I’m submitting version 1.2.2 to Apple today which includes some changes to make Bookmark work smoothly with iOS 4. Until 1.2.2 is approved, you may notice some inconsistencies if you have installed iOS 4 on a 3GS or have purchased the new iPhone 4. If Bookmark 1.2.1 displays the wrong track when you open it, you can fix that by hitting the “back” button and choosing the track again. If it acts “wonky” in a different way, you can force it to restart by doing the following:
Exit Bookmark by pressing the Home Button.
Double-tap the home button to bring up the list of running apps.
Scroll left or right until you find the Bookmark icon.
Tap and hold the Bookmark icon until the icons begin wobbling.
Tap the Bookmark icon to close it.
Restart Bookmark like normal.
I’ll update the blog once Apple approves Bookmark version 1.2.2. The steps above won’t be needed then. If you’re a Bookmark superuser, you might want to hold off updating to iOS 4 until next week when 1.2.2 should be available.
Update 6/25:
For the forseeable future, Bookmark will continue to background as it always has. Apple’s new background audio features were designed for apps that haven’t traditionally been able to background, like Pandora or other MP3 players that don’t work with the iPod. It’s unclear if they intend to add more options for iPod-based players like Bookmark. The only feature that might be useful for Bookmark users would be “shake actions” when Bookmark isn’t actively running, but after much testing, that’s not yet an option.

When listing to an audiobook on my iPhone,
via the built-in Apple iPod app, through a Bluetooth pairing,
incoming telephone calls automatically interrupt the
book, which after the call is ended, resumes where
it left off.
Can Bookmark do the same?
Thanks for your help & advice.

I’m not certain because I don’t often use Bluetooth. I’ll reply once I’ve tested it but you could always try the free Lite version of Bookmark, Bookmark Podcasts Lite, which behaves identically to Bookmark when playing.
