I’d really appreciate it if you could take a minute to fill out a short survey about how you use Bookmark and what features you’d like to see in future updates. It will help us decide what needs attention first to make Bookmark more useful for you.

Tips to speed up your 3G

by Barry on July 27, 2010

If you have an iPhone 3G and you’ve installed iOS 4, you’ve probably noticed performance of the whole device go down. A longtime user and tester of Bookmark sent me this article that he said helped dramatically improve the speed of his device.

From a technical perspective, it makes sense because Safari is a memory hog and it doesn’t really quit when you exit the app (Apple apps have had backgrounding since the beginning). That said, I haven’t tested it. My main device is an iPhone 4 and I keep a 3G running 3.1.3 for testing purposes.

It’s only been about ten days and the first Portuguese book apps we’ve published are doing well. Two fixes coming in 1.2.3

July 14, 2010

Thanks to two alert users who sent me support emails, I’ve tracked down and fixed two bugs in 1.2.2. First, track labels could be too short in some cases and secondly the app can start up in the incorrect track in some multi-track books. It should be available as an update next week. Thanks for [...]

A Note on Chapters

July 10, 2010

The most frequent feature request I receive that I’m not able to act on is chapter listings. The iPod/Music app is able to display chapter lists so it would seem obvious that apps like Bookmark should be able to as well. To explain why Bookmark doesn’t support chapters I have to explain a little about [...]

First Portuguese Audiobook in iTunes

July 9, 2010

Working with a Brazilian publisher, we’ve created Áudio Venda, the first Portuguese audiobook available in iTunes (specifically that’s not a language learning book). It’s a lively guide about improving your sales technique that was converted to digital from an early-60′s vinyl album. While my Portuguese isn’t very good, I appreciate the good voice acting and [...]

Video Tutorial – How to move tracks into Books

July 7, 2010

When you import a book into iTunes from CD, it’s placed in the Music section like any other music CD. Since Bookmark works with tracks from the Books section of iTunes, you’ll need to move them into Books in order to listen to them. It just takes a few steps but it’s not intuitive (at [...]
